Ph.D. in Biosciences from Madras University.

33 years Biodiversity field survey experience (taxonomy & systematics) under the ZSI in the Southern Regional Center, Marine Biological Center and the Estuarine Biological Center located in Chennai and Berhampur.

4 years as Lecturer in Govt.College, Port Blair, A&N Islands, before joining the ZSI.

Trained in Science & Tech communication – Audio-visual media, Environmental Laws as Enforcer by the National Law University Bangalore, Environmental Epidemiology by the TNPCB, Coastal Zone Management by the IOI/IITM, Natural Resource Management by the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Env.Management by the Institute of Quality Management, EMS Auditing for ISO:1401.

Had been a member of the CEM/IUCN.

Had been a Government Nominee for medical research institutions for control of experimentation on animals (CPCSEA).

Published 4 books, and 48 research papers and submitted 12 reports to the Govt. of India.

Worked in several protected areas, sanctuaries, national parks including a marine biosphere reserve, two Ramsar sites.

Presently a Member of the Environmental Impact Assessment Committee of the Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, India.

Engrossed in Environmental Education, Urban Ecology Restoration and public campaigns for protecting biodiversity.
